EPSO arrests teenager for stealing ATV

On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call concerning a stolen four wheeler on Whiteville Road.
When deputies, detectives, and invesitgators with EPSO arrived on the scene, the suspect, who was later identified as Dequdray M. Soileau, abandoned the stolen red four wheeler in an open field.
Soileau then proceeded to run from law enforcement into a field of tall grass, where he laid on the ground in an attempt to hide from officers on the scene.
After approximately 30 minutes of searching the field on foot and by four wheeler, officers were able to locate the suspect and arrest him on the spot.
Soileau was transported to the parish jail, where he currently remains incarcerated.
Soileau has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance, and trespassing. He currently remains incarcerated in the parish jail on a $41,500.00.
According to an EPSO press release, this incident is still under investigation and they currently have information on other possible suspects.
