At Tuesday’s Turkey Creek Council meeting, the mayor and council focused their attention on the village’s employees and the work they have done both inside the office and out.
Mayor Heather Cloud first honored and thanked village clerks Melissa Ferguson and Shelia Deville for all the work they have done inside the office.
Cloud said, “Recently we got our audit report back, and this is year after year. After the first year, it took us a year to get it straight. It was a system that had lots of audit findings. It took us a while to get it straight, and that’s not just because of me, it’s because of these two ladies too.”
The mayor then took time to thank the village’s maintenance worker and employees for the water system for the improvements they have made to the Turkey Creek Water System.
During Cloud’s first year as mayor, the Department of Health and Hospitals performed a sanitary survey on the community’s water system. There were 14 deficiencies found in the water system during that survey in 2012, but today there are known.
Cloud said, “Instead of quitting, we figured it out, and recently we had another water survey done. We went from having pages of findings and pages of possible remedies, to having only one thing wrong in our whole water and sewer system. And, what they did find, wasn’t anything wrong, it was just a recommendation.”
The people Cloud thanked for making this happen were Roger Clark with maintenance, Richard Madrigal and Willie Powers with the water system, and Village Engineer Adam Janet.
Other items approved were:
Minutes from the council’s January meeting.
Resolution to remove penalties and interest incurred on late sewer bills for customers that have set up payment plans and entered into an agreement with the Village of Turkey Creek to work on paying their bill off.
