EPSO arrests resident involved in Mamou shooting on Monday

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Tuesday about a shooting that occurred on Buzz Lane in Mamou on Monday.
In a statement, EPSO stated, “that on April 17, 2017 at 8:08 p.m., the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call via Evangeline Parish 9-1-1 in reference to a shooting at 1813 Buzz Lane in the Mamou area. A female caller advised her aunt had been shot by a male subject. Upon arrival, deputies located and detained the male subject, who was identified as Floyd Porche Jr. The female was transported via Acadian Ambulance Air Med to Lafayette General Hospital, where she was stabilized with non life threatening injuries. A firearm was recovered on scene.”
EPSO further stated that “one arrest has been made, although the incident remains under investigation.”
Porche Jr. has been charged with attempted second degree murder and his bond has been set at $250,000.
EPSO also thanked the Mamou Police Department for their assistance.
