Distinguished Smoked Meat Smoker nominations now being accepted

The Gazette and the 2017 Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival are accepting nominations for its “Distinguished Smoked Meat Smoker” contest! Do you have a favorite smoked meat smoker? Learn how you can nominate them for this time-honored Cajun tradition. The winner will be announced at the 2017 Smoked Meat Festival on Saturday, June 3, at 12 noon during the opening ceremonies.
Please make a nomination with your favorite smoked meat smoker’s name and tell us why they should be the “2017 Louisiana Smoked Meat Festival’s Distinguished Smoked Meat Smoker.” Nominations are not allowed for any of the previous winners within the past five years. Do they have impeccable meat smoking skills? Do they have a funny story about it? Do they smoke meat for a living and have perfected their craft? Or do they smoke meat just for the heck of it for everyone they know? Anyone can be nominated, whether they are a professional or amateur, just tell us their story!
How it works:
Nominated “Distinguished Smoked Meat Smokers” will be announced in the Thursday Gazette on May 25, 2017. At the end of the contest, all the nominees will be in the final paper preceding the festival.
Then the public will decide by placing their votes for the “Best of the Best - Distinguished Smoked Meat Smoker online on The Gazette’s Facebook page or on the Smoked Meat Festival’s Facebook page or by dropping off their ballots at The Gazette office by Wednesday May 31, 2017, at 10:00 am.
The winner by popular vote, the people’s choice, will be announced at the festival during opening ceremonies. Nominations can be dropped of at The Ville Platte Gazette, or you may submit your nomination bu sending a message with the nominated person’s name to Gazette’s Facebook. You may also nominate an individual by sending a Facebook message with that person’s name to the La. Smoked Meat Festival’s page.
