VPPD reports one arrest in recent vehicle thefts

On Wednesday, the Ville Platte Police Department released a press release regarding recent thefts in the area.
The release stated, “Over the past couple of weeks the Ville Platte Police Department has been stepping up extra patrol in the city in response to multiple reports of thefts from vehicles.”
The investigations into these thefts are ongoing at this time.
The release also stated that “according to Detective Sergeant Steven Deville, two houses that were searched on June 6, 2017 in which evidence was recovered from residences where juveniles were thought to be involved with the thefts,” and that “more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.”
One possible suspect, who has been identified as 20-year-old Brandon Jason, was arrested on June 2, 2017 for trespassing.
Jason was transported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and a $500.00 bond was set by Judge Chuck West.

Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue would also like to remind residents to remain vigilant.
The release states, “The investigation is continuing and it is important to always be careful, pay attention to your surroundings, lock your vehicles, doors and windows. Keep an eye out in your neighborhood and report any suspicious activity or suspicious person immediately” to the VPPD.
