Cecilia girls at 2-2 in district
Cecilia’s Lady Bulldogs split a pair of district basketball games last week to raise their league record to 2-2. The loss to Kaplan and a win over Erath leaves the Lady Bulldogs at 7-12 for the season.
Meanwhile, Breaux Bridge and St. Martinville continue to struggle, each dropping two games last week.
The Bridge lost district contests to Beau Chene and Teurlings, while The ’Ville fell to Opelousas and Vermilion Catholic.
Breaux Bridge dropped to 9-19 overall and 1-7 against 5-4A foes, while St. Martinville is winless in league action and 0-20 for the year.
A bright spot for Breaux Bridge, despite its losses to Beau Chene and Teurlings, was the play of junior Jasmine Narcisse, who scored 31 points against the Lady Gators and 32 against Teurlings.
Natasha Wiltz has paced Cecilia’s efforts, scoring 19 and 21 points in last weeks games against Kaplan and Erath.
St. Martinville plays host to Breaux Bridge this Friday while Cecilia is at home against North Vermilion.
On Tuesday, Jan. 29, The ’Ville visits Teurlings Catholic, Breaux Bridge plays at Opelousas and Cecilia travels to Catholic High of New Iberia.
