SMPD apprehends automobile burglar

St. Martinville — Officer Paul Rochon solved two crimes in one on Feb. 18.

While on an early morning patrol, Rochon questioned two "suspicious looking" individuals. Rochon recovered over $700 worth of stolen items which were later determined to have been stolen from a vehicle parked at a private residence only moments before Rochon's crafty police work yielded the items.

Following up on the case, Rochon arrested Felix Etienne, 37, on suspicion of having burglarized a vehicle only a block away from the first incident. He was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Facility on charges of theft, automobile burglary and obstruction of justice.
