March 8 Municipal Election

CROWLEY – A Municipal General Election will take place on Saturday, March 8 in Acadia Parish. The polls will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 a.m.

Just a reminder to voters, proper identification is required during early voting. Please bring the following with you when you come in: current Louisiana driver’s license or current Louisiana identification card and your voter identification card.

Voters who require assistance when they go to their voting precinct on election day are required to bring a physician’s certificate or excuse stating the reason they need assistance. This document is to be given to the registrar or to the commissioner in charge to be delivered to the registrar.

Parishwide propositions on the ballot for Acadia Parish are two renewals for property taxes that support schools in the area.

Proposition No. 1 is the renewal of a 10 year, 15.02 mill property tax for the support of public schools in the parish.

Proposition No. 2 is the renewal of a 10 year, 5.01 mill property tax for the support of the public schools in the parish to maintain school buildings.

For Basile, a proposition is on the ballot giving the authority for the town of Basile, parishes of Acadia and Evangeline, to levy a 25 year, 19.95 mills property tax for acquiring, constructing, renovating, improving, extending, maintaining and operating work of public improvements.
