Lady Trojans blow up Port Barre girls

With two district losses already, the Lady Trojans buckled down and came out fighting this week. They took on Port Barre High School Tuesday and showed no mercy. Sacred Heart pounded out nine runs and six hits to take a 9-1 victory.
In the top of the third inning, Hannah Enicke led off with a double and moved to third on a fielder’s choice from Shelby Fontenot. A single from Samantha Davenport (2-4) pushed Enicke across the plate. An error forced by Courtney Ramirez allowed Davenport to score.
Another run was plated in the fourth inning. Enicke reached base on an error and scored the same way.
Up 3-0, the Lady Trojans pushed two more runs across the plate in their next trip to the plate. Davenport reached on an error and scored on a triple from Ramirez. A single from Sarah Dupre (3-4) moved Ramirez home.
Sacred Heart slammed the door on the Lady Red Devils in the top of the seventh inning. Four runs were plated on four hits. Davenport led off the inning with a single. Back-to-back singles from Logan Hebert and Dupre kept the inning going. A double from Laura Coreil pushed two runs across the plate.
Hebert got the win on the hill. She fanned six batters, walked three and allowed just one hit.
