Lady Jays fall 5-4 in 13th inning

The St. Edmund Lady Jays dropped a 5-4 decision to St. Joseph Wednesday night in their first District 6-1A outing after going into six extra innings.
The Lady Jays (12-7) drew first blood when Ashley LaFleur scored on an error in the bottom of the third.
But the Lady Eagles tied the score in the top of the fourth and held St. Eds scoreless to force the extra innings.
St. Joe's scored two more runs in the top of the ninth, but Leah Andrus' 2 RBI base hit in the second half kept the Lady Jays alive.
The Lady Eagles took advantage of a Lady Jay error to score two runs in the top of the thirteenth.
St. Eds scored one run in the second half on a sacrifice before the Lady Eagles closed the door on the inning.
