Lady Demons clip Lady Vikings

Mamou continued to pick up district victories last Thursday afternoon. They improved to 3-0 in district with a 4-0 victory over the Lady Vikings of Opelousas Catholic. Mamou is 11-5 overall.

Sadie Fontenot got the win on the hill. She worked all seven innings, fanning 11 batters and allowing just one hit. She never allowed the OCHS batters to get a grip on her pitching.

Mamou’s offense was led by Katie Landreneau. The youngster was 2-4 at the plate with two runs batted in and a stolen base. Amanda Fontenot, Kristie Soileau and Amy Fontenot each got hits in the game. Amanda Fontenot roped a triple that drove in a run.

The Lady Demons plated three runs in the top of the second inning and never looked back. They later added a run in the top of the fifth inning.

The Mamou defensive unit did a fine job. They committed just one error in the contest, while OCHS tripped up on four incidents.

Mamou competed in the Sulphur Invitational last weekend and they host Port Barre today and travel to Sacred Heart Saturday at 4 p.m.
