An arrest stemming from a joint investigation by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police occurred Tuesday, March 11, when authorities took a Pine Prairie man into custody.
Clarence Lavergne Jr., 55, 1627 Walnut St., Pine Prairie, was charged with distribution of Schedule II narcotics. Captain Keith Dupre, chief of detectives for the sheriff’s office said the investigation had been ongoing for approximately six months. On Tuesday, law enforcement officers were able to secure and execute a warrant for Lavergne’s arrest. He was booked into the parish jail and later released on a $15,000 bond.
Dupre thanked the public for its assistance and reminded them of Sheriff Eddie Soileau’s campaign promise to keep fighting narcotic traffic in the parish. Residents are encouraged to report any illegal activities to the sheriff’s office at 363-2161.
“All callers will remain anonymous,” Soileau said.
