Lady Cats claim parish title

The Eunice Lady Bobcats scored a run in each of the first two innings and held off a stingy Port Barre team for a 2-0 win Saturday in the finals of the S. Landry Parish softball tournament held at Opelousas High.

It was the first parish title for the Lady Cats since 2001.

Second seed Eunice defeated Northwest 6-0 to advance to the title game, while the third seed Lady Devils grabbed a 1-0 win over top seed Beau Chene in the semifinals.
