Fire district meets

Evangeline Parish Fire District Two, Ward One met Tuesday, March 11, to discuss district issues.

District Chief Ted Demoruelle reported a practice water shuttle would be held Thursday, March 20, at 6 p.m. He asked everyone to come to the practice run. He also had plans to meet with Chataignier to begin discussing their water shuttle.

Board members:

•Learned in February, the district responded to three structure fires, four grass fires, one medical call, one extrication and one vehicle fire.

•Heard the financial report had $275,000 in the general fund, $55,000 in payroll and $9,000 in savings. The district also paid one of its last two annual notes on the truck package it purchased several years ago. The annual note was $68,000.

•Purchased equipment for firefighting purposes.

•Discussed possible fuel tanks and the benefits of fuel costs if the district purchased the tanks.
