The Evangeline Parish Police Jury held a special meeting of its Crooked Creek Committee Wednesday, March 19, to discuss operations at the Crooked Creek Recreational Park.

The committee approved placing Public Works Superintendent Chester Granger in “complete control” of Crooked Creek operations. Secretary/Treasurer Doug Deville said Granger will run a daily check on all campsites in the park. He said Granger will review campsite revenue and cost, and update the jury on a daily basis, with the assistance of Deville. Current Crooked Creek Manager Elroy George will keep his position, but Granger will be placed over him to oversee the park’s operation and report back to the jury.

Granger also will be in charge of all financial aspects of the park, as well as vehicles and personnel.

The jury also agreed to purchase 500 grass carts to eliminate some of the problem grass in the Crooked Creek Lake.
