ESTHERWOOD – Estherwood Head Start school was the setting for the school’s Trike-A-Thon Thursday morning. Students, with the help of their parents, raised money for St. Jude’s Children Hospital by getting donations from local businesses. The children also competed in bike decorating and fund raising contests.
In the bike decorating contest, Easter was the inspiration for most of the designs with Easter eggs and colors decorating most of the bikes. One bike was even decorated to look like a an Easter bunny.
The winners of the decorating contest were, first prize, Kaytlin Keller; second prize, Peyton Dupuis; and third prize, Kadace Hargrave. Each winner received a trophy.
In the fundraising contest, the winners were, first place, Zoe Guidry, who raised $164; second prize, Kaytlin Keller, who raised $143; and third prize, Kadance Hargrave, who raised $129.
After awarding the prizes, the children took a ride around the schoolyard while they were cheered on by the older students. Everyone seemed to have a great time as the children seemed fired up about having a few days off of school.
