NV's Menard wins golf tournament
LAKE CHARLES -- North Vermilion’s Ross Menard shot a 72 Tuesday to win the two-day St. Louis Invitational.
The senior shot a 75 on Monday at the Lake Charles Country Club for a total of 147. Tuesday’s round took place at Gray Plantation. He finished first out of 93 golfers.
Teammate Mick Huffman placed seventh after shooting 75 on both days.
“I am proud of both Ross and Mick,” said NV coach Ivy Landry. “They did a great job against all classes.”
The event was open to all classes in the state. St. Thomas More won the event with Parkview Baptist coming in second. The Patriots placed 11th out of 15 teams.
North Vermilion will play host to at tournament on April 1 at the Abbeville Country Club. The Pats will welcome Rayne, Opelousas Catholic and Westminster.
