Heritage Manor News: Where’s the compassion?
(Editor’s Note: The following article was submitted by Janice Hardy, resident activity director at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte. This column runs every Sunday in The Gazette.)
Compassion is something I was taught when I was a very small child. Caring for others and helping out in anyway I could always made me feel better. This lesson has become very important in my job at the nursing home. The residents are so special and caring.
Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way I do. I ask you, where is the compassion? Have we taught our children to be caring and compassionate? This depends on what we teach our children today.
The time to think and do something about it is now. We, as parents must teach our children how important it is to respect and care about others. Whether these others are strangers or family, we need to make sure our children learn compassion now, while they are young.
