Bobcats wallop Wash-Marion, 19-1
LAKE CHARLES – The Eunice High Bobcats added another District 4-4A win to their belts last Friday with a 19-1 win over Washington-Marion High (1-12; 0-7).
Eunice (15-9; 6-1) scored three runs each in the top of the first and second innings, before a three-run homer by Jacque Frugé in the bottom of the third helped the Bobcats add six more runs to their total for a 12-0 lead.
Frugé went 3-for-3 in last week’s contest, contributing six RBI overall.
Eunice added four more runs in the top of the fourth and three in the top of the fifth.
The Chargin’ Indians got on the board with one run in the second half, but were unable to add more runs to prevent the mercy-rule ending.
Stuart Turner (3-4) doubled and scored 5 RBI, and Mitchell Fuselier (3-5) dbouled and contributed 3 RBI to the Bobcats’ total.
Fuselier (1-2) earned his first win on the mound, giving up one unearned run off of one hit and one walk in Friday’s contest, while striking out five batters in five innings.
On Tuesday, the Bobcats face another crucial district challenge when they host the Dragons of DeRidder (15-11; 5-2) at 6 p.m.
