Blue Jays shut out Acadiana Prep

It was a pretty lopsided game for St. Edmund Thursday night, as the Blue Jays pummelled the inexperienced Acadiana Prep Eagles for a three-inning, 19-run shutout.
“You’ve just got to take every game and play as hard as you can and it works out how it works out,” Blue Jay Head Coach Tré Brown said afterwards.
The win allowed St. Edmund to continue their unbeaten District 6-1A record; the Jays are 17-11 overall.
Wesley Richard opened Blue Jay batting in the bottom of the first with a solo home run.
Richard later doubled for one run in the bottom of the second inning.
Tyler Rodriguez tripled to drive in two runs in the first inning, and added another run in the second inning.
Edward Turk hit three 2-RBI doubles over the course of the game, contributing a total of six runs batted in.
Quinn Arnaud, Jeff Fontenot, Trevor Hargroder and Mac Manuel all contributed RBI as well.
Manuel and Rodriguez combined to throw a perfect game.
Manuel earned the win, giving up no hits, runs or walks in the first two innings while striking out three batters.
Rodriguez took over in the third, striking out three batters in order.
On Tuesday, St. Edmund will continue district action at False River at 3:30 p.m.
They will then host Mamou for a nondistrict game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, before wrapping up district play at St. Joseph’s of Plaucheville at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
