One arrested in diesel theft
More information concerning a reported theft of diesel by the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office has been released.
According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, one person has been arrested in relation to an ongoing investigation in regards to theft of diesel fuel belonging to Apache Oil Company.
Sheriff Couvillon says that Marc Cheramie, 55, of 164 Cheramie Lane Golden Meadow La. was arrested on April 9 at his residence without incident on four counts of theft by Detectives with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and agents from the ICE Taskforce.
Sheriff Couvillon says that Cheramie, owner of R.C. Logistics had contracted boats out to Apache Oil Company, and without permission and/or knowledge of Apache Oil Company removed and sold approximately 39,000 gallons of diesel fuel worth approximately $75,000.00 to private individuals for a profit.
Sheriff Couvillon further stated that detectives also obtained a search warrant for Cheramie’s businesses and seized a total of five computers, bank financial records, boat manifest logs, as well as accounts payables and receivable records.
Marc Cheramie was arrested and transported back to Vermilion Parish and booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center and was later released on $80,000.00 bond.
Finally, Sheriff Couvillon says that the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests may be forthcoming.
