St. Eds wraps up 6-1A with 27-1 win over Eagles

PLAUCHEVILLE – The St. Edmund Blue Jays remained undefeated in District 6-1A as they wrapped up district play with a 27-1, three-inning victory over St. Joseph’s.
The victory marked the seventh district win for St. Edmund, capping off the Jays’ district championship and a 19-12 overall record.
St. Eds opened up the first inning with an 11-run explosion, and followed it up with 14 runs in the top of the second inning; the Eagles escaped a shutout in the second half with one run.
The Jays capped off their win with two more runs in the top of the third inning.
Quin Arnaud went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI; Kevin McFarlain (2-3), Taylor Eval (2-2) and Eric Guillory (4-4) each doubled and drove in two runs.
Dillion Brown went 2-for-2, doubling and driving in one run.
Wesley Richard tripled and crossed home plate twice.
Starter Edward Turk (6-1) pitched the win, giving up no runs, hits or walks while striking out two batters in the first inning.
He was followed by relievers Adam Wimberly (one earned run, one hit, one strikeout) in the second inning and Nick Richard (one walk) in the third.
The Jays wrap up their season Monday at University Lab, facing the Cubs at 4 p.m.
