RAYNE – The Eunice High Bobcats wrapped up their regular season Tuesday night with a disappointing 4-3 loss to the Wolves of Rayne.
Rayne (17-8) scored first in the bottom of the second, when Jordan Kondert’s sacrifice bunt plated one runner.
Eunice (18-13) took the lead briefly in the top of the sixth inning, when senior powerhouse Jacque Frugé slammed the ball over the fence for two runs.
This marked Frugé’s seventh home run of the season.
Frugé set a new school record for RBI in a season (42).
In the top of the seventh, Austin Young and Stuart Turner both singled before Frugé was intentionally walked to load the bases, but were only able to score one run before the Wolves closed the door on Eunice.
Relief pitcher Brett Baldwin (1-1) took the loss for Eunice, giving up three runs, one of which was earned, off of four hits and a walk while striking out one batter in three-and-two-third innings.
