Next stop: State tennis championships

CADE – St. Edmund tennis team placed second in the Region II, Division V tennis tournament held at the Episcopal School of Acadiana Tuesday.

The Region II Tournament included teams from Episcopal, Vermilion Catholic, Hathaway, Lacassine, Highland Baptist, Grand Lake and the Academy of Sacred Heart, as well as St. Edmund.

Isaac Frederick placed second in boys singles, advancing to the championship game.

David Marcantel and Dominic Sonnier placed fourth in boys doubles after advancing to the semi-final round.

Jennifer Cormier advanced to the semi-final round in girls singles, taking fourth place in the tournament.

Frederick, Taylor Tujague, Chase Veillon, Reid Redlich, Cormier, Sarah Moosa, Caroline Brown and Megan Kreswell have all qualified for the Class 1A state tournament, which will be held in Monroe Monday and Tuesday.
