EPPJ hires several during special meeting

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury held a special meeting Monday, April 21, to approve the hiring of several new parish employees.

The jury approved hiring the following individuals:

•Jamie Hebert as a part-time groundskeeper at Crooked Creek Recreational Park.

•Verbis Debaillon to run a crew of trustees, who will work to clean along parish roads.

•James Fontenot, who is expected to replace Sewer Operator Hurley Mose Jr. Juror Bob Manuel said Fontenot has his certification to work in that position.

•Jimmy “Boy” Smith, who will work in both District Seven, Bryan Vidrine’s district, and District Four, Lamar Johnson’s district.

The jury also discussed purchasing signs for Crooked Creek Recreational Park after Juror Davis Manuel said he received a complaint that the park is hard to locate. Jurors will discuss the purchase of these signs further at its next meeting.
