AIMEE JOYCE BROWN GUILLORY

Funeral services were held for Aimee Joyce Brown Guillory, 63, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 12 noon, Monday, April 21. Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Mrs. Guillory died at 7:55 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2008, at Ville Platte Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, J.L. Guillory of Ville Platte; one son, Charlie Williams and his companion, Angie Melancon, of New Iberia; two daughters, Rachel Williams Rider and her husband, Tony, of Ville Platte and Stephanie Guillory Rider and her husband, Brent, of Reddell; one brother, Homer Brown Jr. of Baton Rouge; one step-brother, Leroy Meche Jr. of Ville Platte; two sisters, Shirley Brown Ardoin and Sandra Brown Ortego, both of Ville Platte; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Versie West Brown; and two brothers, Glenn and Ronnie Brown.

SGT. JOSEPH A. RICHARD III
GRAND PRAIRIE - Funeral services were held for Sgt. Joseph A. Richard III, 27, of DeRidder, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 22. Burial followed in the St. Peter the Mortar Cemetery in Grand Prairie.
A native of Grand Prairie, Sgt. Richard died Monday, April 14, 2008, in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade combat team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), located at Fort Polk. He had been a resident of DeRidder for the past year. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Ville Platte, Class of 1999. He also attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he was pursuing a bachelor degree in public relations. He had been a parishioner of St. Peter The Mortar Roman Catholic Church in Grand Prairie, where he was an altar server for six years and served as Altar Server Coordinator, and later became a parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in DeRidder. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enlisted in the U. S. Army, Combat Engineer, on January 2, 2003, and completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. His first tour of duty, in May 2003 - April 2004, was with the 588th Engineer Battalion, 4th Infantry Division in Fort Hood, Texas. His second tour, in December 2005 – November 2006, was with the Echo Company, 1-67 Armor Regiment, Fort Hood, TX. He was reassigned to Alpha Company, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk in March 2007. In November 2007, he was sent to serve his third tour in Iraq.
He was a recipient of Distinguished Service medals, including the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Metal, National Defense Service Metal, Global War on Terrorism Service Metal, Non Commissioned Officer Proficiency Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal, Over Seas Service Ribbon 2nd Consecutive Tour and the Combat Action Badge.
Survivors include his loving wife of six years, Monique Green Richard of St. Martinville; his parents, Joseph A. Richard Jr. and Elaine Montgomery Richard of Grand Prairie; one sister, Carmen Billedeaux and her husband, Frederick “Dickie,” of Lafayette; his maternal grandmother, Vela Soileau Montgomery of Washington; five nieces, Brittany, Morgan, Claudia, Isabelle and Marissa Billedeaux; and three nephews, Joshua, Nathaniel and Isaac Billedeaux.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Tracy Scott; his maternal grandfather, W.J. “Bubba” Montgomery, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Joseph Avie Richard Sr. and Josephine Lalonde Richard; and one nephew, Caleb Joseph Billedeaux.
Readers were Brittany Billedeaux and Carmen Billedeaux.
Giftbearers were Garland and Yvonne Young, and Stacy Richard.
Musical selections were provided by Karen Melancon, accompanied by the Sacred Heart Choir, Jay Riedl and Morgan Billedeaux. The songs were “Amazing Grace,” “On Eagles Wings,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Go Rest High on That Mountain,” and “Be Not Afraid.”
Pallbearers were the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers were Dustin Fontenot, Blake Patout, Brock Boudreaux, Christopher Wooley, Andrew Deranger and Airman 1st Class Nicholas Richard.

Funeral services were held for Stephanie Ann Richard Fontenot, 38, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 16. Burial followed in the Platin Cemetery.

AUGUST LARRY ‘BOZY’ MANUEL
April 10, 1931 - April 20, 2008
EUNICE - Funeral services were held for August Larry “Bozy” Manuel, 77, of Eunice, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 22. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Manuel died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. The family is often asked how he got the nickname “Bozy.” The Manuels were friends of the pastor of St. Anthony’s Church, Father August Baudizzone, and Manuel was named “August” after the priest. The “Bozy” came as a short form of Baudizzone.
Manuel served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman during the Korean War. He stayed in the Naval Reserve and transferred to the Army National Guard, where he retired after 20 years.
He received his bachelor’s degree from SLI (UL Lafayette) and master’s degree in education from LSU. His first position as teacher and coach was at Sacred Heart in Ville Platte. Coach Manuel continued his career in Eunice as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor and ended it as principal of Eunice Vocational School. After retiring, he served four years on the St. Landry Parish School Board.
He spent his spare time reading to children and performing magic shows with his puppet “Goggy” at elementary schools and the public library. He enjoyed family barbecues and going to his grandchildren’s and great grandchild’s school activities. Big band music was a favorite of his. He and his wife, Pat, took many a turn on the dance floor.
He faithfully served his church, St. Thomas More, as a lector until his illness.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Patricia Vidrine Manuel of Eunice; one son, Michael Larry Manuel and his wife, Monica West Manuel; two daughters, Joan Aucoin Cotner and her husband, Patrick, and Catherine A. Charlier and her husband, Lloyd; one brother, Gerald Joseph Manuel; two sisters, Bertha Lee “Teadie” LeDoux and Patricia E. Russell; eight grandchildren, Lauren, JoAnna and Jeanne Aucoin, Andrea, Alex, Avery and Aubrey Charlier and Alexander Manuel; and one great-grandson, Damion Johnson Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dubuisson Manuel and Bertha (Bertile) Reed; two brothers, Shelton and W.C. Manuel; and one sister, Edwina Fontenot.

VERNON DAVID JUNEAU
January 1, 1925 - April 21, 2008
BUNKIE - Funeral services were held for Vernon David Juneau, 83, of Bunkie, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bunkie at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 23. Burial followed in the Pythian Mausoleum.
Mr. Juneau died Monday, April 21, 2008, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. He was a WWII Veteran of the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Colorado from 1943-1947 in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a concrete finisher for Bunkie Redimix, Ville Platte Redimix, Juneau & Son, Juneau Sons, Chris Juneau Concrete Works, C/D Construction, Big J Concrete and Lloyd Aymond Electric.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Bunkie. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Murdis Johnson Juneau of Bunkie; two sons, Mark Juneau Sr. and his wife, Fonda, and Chris Juneau and his wife, JoJo, all of Bunkie; four daughters, Elaine Fontanille and her husband, Terry, of Port Arthur, Texas, Verna Maillet and her husband, Michael, of Baton Rouge, Marlene Juneau and Jerry Ward of Bunkie and Duana Trotter and her husband, Greg, of Alexandria; one sister Sabia Desselle and her husband, Eldridge, of Bunkie; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy and Annie Cullen Juneau; one son, Davie Carl Juneau; and two brothers, Huron Juneau and Alden Juneau.

CURTIS ‘LEROY’ SOILEAU
A memorial service will be held for Curtis “Leroy” Soileau, 64, of Alexandria, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., today, April 24.
Mr. Soileau died Monday, April 21, 2008, at his residence. He served his country with pride for 20 years in the United States Air Force. At the time of death, he was employed with Tidewater Marine.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Lois Harmon Soileau of Alexandria; one son, David Soileau and his wife, Lesa, of Houma; one daughter, Angela Soileau of Alexandria; two sisters, Anna Mae Castillo of Lakeview, Arkansas, and Linda Nell Soileau of Lafayette; and three grandchildren, Madeleine, Jacques and Emily Soileau.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Soileau; and his mother, Rhea Soileau.
The family wishes to express a heart felt thank you to Father Sanchez, Dr. Sacarro and St. Frances Cabrini Hospice for their care and kindness.

PINE PRAIRIE - Funeral services were held for Inez LeBas, 59, of Upper Pine Prairie, at Trinity Baptist Church in Pine Prairie at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 23. Burial followed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. LeBas died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her residence with her family near her side. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.
Survivors include her loving husband of 37 years, Roger LeBas of Upper Pine Prairie; three daughters, Rhonda Blood and her husband, Greg, of Upper Pine Prairie, Marsha LeBas of Pine Prairie and Dainna Williams and her husband, Gene, of Bunkie; her mother, Evelyn Martin of Bayou Chicot; three sisters, Jane Mayeaux of Scott, Carol Fontenot of Bayou Chicot and Peggy Fontenot of Pine Prairie; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Blood died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at her residence.

Mr. Shillow died Friday, April 18, 2008, in Mamou.

Master Quincy died Sunday, April 20, 2008.
