Cotton seeds available

Those persons wishing to participate in the Annual Louisiana Cotton Growing Seeds can now receive their seeds at the Evangeline Parish County Extension Office on Court Street.

Keith Fontenot, director of the local extension office, said the seeds are ready. Those participating in the program will have to fill out a short form giving permission for the plants to be checked and sprayed through the boll weevil program. They will have to give directions and other information.

The Louisiana Cotton Festival will conduct a judging contest of cotton plants in October in conjunction with the festival.

The festival committee will only view plants for the contest at homes within five miles of Ville Platte. If you do not live within this area, you can still grow the cotton seeds.
