Herod Village studios to open

For the community, with the community and of the community is how, why and where a new studio is born.

“Our main goal is helping young people,” Ronald Darby stated.

“They are the future and we (those involved) want to create an opportunity for as many kids as possible to learn new things and even participate in the process of making a television show.

Cox Cable and and Acadiana Open Channel (AOC) will assist the new group by holding seminars and classes to train young people in skills such as camera operator, editor and other related applications that create a show.

“AOC will come to Abbeville and work with the kids. Eventually we can have job placement for the learned positions,” Darby continued.

Three shows are immediately slated to begin shooting, What’s up Vermilion Parish with Abbeville Meridional Managing Editor, Rachel Cherry, New Generations Gospel Ministries, hosted by Ronald Darby and Veteran’s Affairs with Albert Dawson.

“I’m excited about the possibility of getting more information to the public that I write about on a daily basis,” Cherry said.

“I hope to be able to show a more in-depth look into politics, news and personalities in our parish.”

The New Generation Gospel Ministries will feature music and ministries from around the area.

The Veteran’s Affairs show will look at past and present activities of Veteran’s and address other issues that affect our armed forces.

There will be an organizational meeting on Saturday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at 1400 Martin Luther King Street, Herod Village for anyone who is interested.
