Minister’s Corner: The driving force of the Christian life

Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” (Matthew 22:37-38 KJV).
If you love God and love others, you’ll live by the Ten Commandments. You won’t curse someone you love. You won’t steal from someone you love. You won’t murder someone you love. You won’t cheat on someone you love. If you love God and love others, you won’t need any further motivation for living a holy life. If you love God and love others, you will want to become generous in your giving. If you love God and love others, you will want to learn to control your anger and your tongue. If you love God and love others, you’ll want to help those who hurt, you’ll want to feed those who are hungry, you’ll want to encourage those who are discouraged, and on and on. Loving God and loving others is what motivates you towards holiness. It’s the driving force of the Christan life.
