Mark Deshotels announced candidacy for Mamou’s council seat

MAMOU - Mark Deshotels announced his candidacy for District Four Councilman for the Town Of Mamou. His announcement follows:

“I, Mark Deshotels, would like to take this opportunity to ask the people of District Four for their vote and support in the upcoming special election to be held in October to replace the late Mr. J.L. Saucier, who gave 21 years of his life, serving District Four. To Mr. J.L., job well done. To Mrs. Helen Saucier, daughters, Melissa and Belinda and son, Randy, my thoughts and prayers go out to your entire family. I was fortunate to enjoy spending time with Mr. J.L. and Mrs. Helen on their front porch the week before his untimely passing. God Bless You All.

“Now I would like to tell the people of District Four about myself. I am 51 years of age, I served three years in the United States Navy, and I am the father of two sons. My son Jordon Deshotels, age 21, is attending Loyola University in New Orleans, while currently a member of the United States Army. My son Jesse Deshotels, age 18, resides in Hammond and is employed with Winn Dixie. My father is Weber Lee Deshotels Sr., who served for 32 years as your Evangeline Parish Assessor, until his retirement in December of 2000. My mother is the late Pat Deshotels. I am one of six siblings.

“I have always dealt with the public in one form or fashion. During my six years of law enforcement and 15 years in sales, I have always worked well with the public. I humbly ask the people of District Four for their vote and support. I will not make political promises, but I do give each and everyone of you my word I will work hard and answer each and everyone of your calls in District Four in order that District Four continues to work for you, the people. I will work together with the elected officials of the Town of Mamou to make sure all citizens are treated equally. Finally, I pledge to be honest and hard working and to perform my duties with dignity and integrity. “God bless you all,” he said.
