Les Dames Acadian hold annual “Red Hat Fun Day”

Les Dames Acadian met at the home of Bettie Duhon for the annual Fun Day Celebration. The theme for the occasion was “Red Hat Fun Day”. Members were asked to dress in purple and to wear red hats.

Upon arrival, the guests were served coffee, juice, as well as scones and cheese straws.

The day is usually centered around crowning a new girl of the year. This year’s girl of the year was Bonnie Gaspard. Bonnie has been in the club for two years and has contributed greatly to the club. She now serves as secretary of the club. She was crowned by last year’s girl of the year, Bettie Duhon, with a crown of small red roses. Her chair for the day was decorated with a large gold bow. She was presented a beautiful engraved charm by the club, along with a monogrammed apron and many other gifts.

A wonderful salad lunch was prepared and served by committee members Lyla Manuel, Cynthia Kratzer, Doris Hensgens, Lucille Chisholm, Judy LeJeune, and Bettie Duhon. After lunch, there was an exchange of White Elephant gifts, which brought much laughter and fun to those in attendance.

Early afternoon, the committee served tea and sugar cookies, as well as other delicious goodies, after which was an exchange of Secret Pal gifts.

This was a great day, and a wonderful way for us to end our meetings for the summer.
