Drug task force operations a success

As the summer comes into full swing, so are law enforcement officials as they hit the streets to arrest drug-related offenders.

According to Abbeville Police Chief Rick Coleman, and Sheriff Mike Couvillon the Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task Force arrested, Kendrick Briggs and Jeremy August, both of Abbeville, on charges ranging from Possession of Marijuana with intent to Distribute to Resisting arrest.

These two arrests are the continuation of “Operation summer kick off”.

Sheriff Couvillon and Chief Coleman advises, that with School being out for the summer and all the kids on the streets, the Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task will be very vigilant in pursuing these drug dealers and removing them and their illegal drugs from the streets of Abbeville and others Towns and cities in Vermilion Parish.

The Narcotics Task Force executed a search warrant at 1610 Martin Luther King Dr Apartment 170.

Upon entering the residence Officers located two black male subjects, Kendrick Briggs and Jeremy August.

Jeremy August attempted to flee the apartment, but after a short foot pursuit Jeremy August was arrested and brought back to the apartment while bringing August back to the apartment a large amount of suspected Marijuana was found on the ground that August had thrown during the pursuit.

After a search of the residence, officers located another large stash of suspected marijuana along with small Ziploc bags of suspected powdered cocaine.

The owner of the residence Kendrick Briggs was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of Cocaine with intent to distribute. Jeremy August was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute and resisting arrest. Both subjects were booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center.

The Task Force would like to thank the Vermilion Parish Criminal investigative Division, The Abbeville Police Department Patrol Division and The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division for their assistance in this investigation.

The Vermilion Parish Municipal Narcotics Task Force made another narcotic arrests.

Agents with the Task Force located James Darby, 17 years old of Abbeville, and the Task Force had active narcotic warrant for. Once arrested, Darby was found to be in possession of approximately $500 worth of suspected Crack Cocaine.

Darby was transported to the Vermilion Parish Correction Center and booked on the charges of Possession of Cocaine with intent to distribute and two (2) counts of Distribution of Cocaine on the warrants.

Agents arrested Marco Saddler and Deshawn Green for outstanding narcotics warrants.

Agents then located Gary Guidry and after a brief foot chase, Guidry was arrested on narcotic warrants and Battery of an Officer and Resisting an Officer, after arrested Guidry was searched and agents located approximately $500 worth of suspected crack cocaine and marijuana.
