My View 6.15

I would like to start by saying Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.

You’ve worked hard all year and this is your day to relax or just do whatever you want to do. You’ve earned it!

I would like to wish the special man in my life who I call my dad a very happy father’s day.

He has played a big part in my life since I was eight years old. He is not my biological father, but he has truly been my dad in every aspect.

There’s an old saying that blood is thicker than water, but I just don’t agree with that.

There is another old saying that I do agree with and it says that anybody can be a father, but it takes a real man to stand up and be a dad or in this case stepdad.

Thank you James, for being my dad. And for everything you have done for me. I wouldn’t be the strong willed person, loyal wife, and loving mother that I am today if it wasn’t for you.

In 1999, country singer, Brad Paisley, came out with a song titled “He didn’t have to be”. This song is a great tribute to all stepfathers. If you haven’t heard it, you should take the time to do so.

I would also like to wish my husband, Jeff, a happy relaxing day as well. He has been a great dad and stepdad to our two children.

We have one son together who is almost 14, and one daughter who is 18 that I have from a previous marriage.

He has been in her life ever since she was three years of age and he has never let the fact that he wasn’t her real father stop him from treating her, and loving her as his own.

I admire him for his loyalty to our family. Like any normal family, we’ve had our ups and downs, but he has always seem to find a way to pull us through the hard times.

Today he will be doing what he, and millions of other dads, seem to enjoy most of all.

He will be in our backyard or what he often refers to -as his place of freedom- grilling meat on the barbecue pit and drinking a few refreshing cold ones.

So, to all the “Dads” in the world, you’ve earned the right to get the royal treatment .

Today you are “King”!
