MAURICE - Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Lillie Mae Broussard, 81, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at her residence in Maurice.

Interment will be in the Broussard Family Cemetery in Milton.

Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Rhonda Desormeaux and Becky Desormeaux. Giftbearers will be Brittany Broussard, Brooke Trahan and Krystle Broussard. Eulogist will be Tessa Trahan.Valerie Andrus, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, “One Day At A Time”, “Be Not Afraid”, “J’irai la voir un jour”, “Ave Maria” and “I Can Only Imagine”.

Survivors include one daughter, Gladys Broussard Trahan and her husband, James Curtis; one son, Allen Lee Broussard and his wife, Rudell Menard Broussard; four grandchildren, Krystle Broussard and her boyfriend, Blaine Mire, Brittany Broussard and her boyfriend, Blake Meaux, Lisa Landry and her husband, Kevin and Norris Trahan and his wife, Tessa; three great grandchildren, Brooke Trahan, Tyler Landry and Bryce Landry; two sisters, Arline Foreman and her husband, Eldes and Loula Mae Turner; and one brother, Pierre Dalton Broussard and his wife, Vivian.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andre S. Broussard and Adonia Simon Broussard; her husband, Leroy Broussard; one sister, Alexina B. LeBlanc; and one brother, Isaac Broussard.

A native and lifelong resident of Maurice, Louisiana, Mrs. Broussard was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was employed as a cook for the Vermilion Parish School System for over 20 years. Mrs. Broussard also worked with her son, Allen, who owned “Allen’s Formica”, where she dedicated 15 years of service. She was a faithful member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Community in Maurice. Mrs. Broussard enjoyed camping, trail rides and visiting the beach. She was a caring, loving person who cherished her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was known by many as “Doc”.

Pallbearers will be Allen Broussard, Kevin Landry, Norris Trahan, Michael Broussard, Glynn Broussard, Blaine Mire and Ronald Veronie. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Landry, Bryce Landry, Blake Meaux, Curtis Trahan and Clifton Meaux.

A Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Lafayette.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 9:00 AM, continuing throughout the evening, until service time on Thursday.

The family would like to give special thanks to her care givers, Ruby Veronie, Theresa Angelle, Leanna Lemaire and Sarah Evans, as well as her nurses, Chelsie and Pam, for the kind, loving, gentle care given to Mrs. Broussard during her time of need.
