JOYCELYN BORDELON

June 29, 1945 - June 6, 2008

PLAISANCE - Funeral services were held for Joycelyn Bordelon, 62, of Ville Platte, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 8. Burial followed in the St. Andrew Cemetery in Plaisance.

Ms. Bordelon died Friday, June 6, 2008, at her residence. She was a Christian, God-loving woman who enjoyed praying, reading her bible and watching TBN. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she also loved and cherished her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Bonis of Ville Platte and Shane Fontenot of Plaisance; two daughters, Tammy Bonis of Ville Platte and Shannon George of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdnand Bordelon; one son, Michael Todd Bonis; three brothers, Ryan, Roy and Terran Bordelon; three sisters, Ella Prudhomme, Verda Bordelon and Sybil Godeaux; and one son-in-law, Michael George.

Rev. Kenneth Geisendorff officiated.

MURPHY D. CAMPBELL

March 10, 1920 - June 12, 2008

TURKEY CREEK - Funeral services were held for Murphy D. Campbell, 88, of Upper Pine Prairie, at the Rush Funeral Home Chapel in Pine Prairie at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 14. Burial followed in the Turkey Creek Cemetery.

Mr. Campbell died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home. He loved fishing, farming and the great outdoors.

Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Elsie Campbell of Upper Pine Prairie; one son, Jimmy Campbell and his wife, Phyllis, of Upper Pine Prairie; one daughter, Myrl Hazelton and her husband, Nolan, of Upper Pine Prairie; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.

DWIGHT FUSELIER

March 24, 1960 - June 9, 2008

Dwight Fuselier, 49, passed away Monday, June 9, 2008, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.

Survivors include one brother, Scott Fuselier of Ville Platte; one sister, Angela Kay Fuselier of Hammond; one aunt, Beryl McDaniel of Ville Platte; and two cousins, Joey Fontenot and Tim Fontenot, both of Sunset.

ANTHONY ‘TONY’ JOHNSON

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Anthony “Tony” Johnson, 52, of Longville, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 14. Burial followed in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

A native of Mamou, Mr. Johnson died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at his residence following a long illness.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Johnson of Longville; one daughter, April Danielle Johnson and her husband, Charlie Raunte, of Longville; one brother, Steve Johnson of Aransas Pass, Texas; five sisters, Sandy Granger, Jenny Miller and Darlene Melancon, all of Mamou, Debbie Valdez of Lafayette and Charlene Amiot of Eunice; and one grandson, Kade Lucas Bertrand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Johnson and Wilma Dean Young; one sister, Ramona Johnson; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bodair Marcantel.

MAYUSE BROWN

JANUARY 28, 1929 - JUNE 12, 2008

Funeral services were held for Mayuse Brown, 79, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, June 14. Burial followed in the M.B. Fontenot Cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Ville Platte Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Eva M. Brown of Ville Platte; three sons, Tony Brown and his wife, Gayle, and Larry Brown and his wife, Jana, all of Ville Platte, and David Brown and his wife, Angie, of Church Point; one daughter, Winna Smith of Ville Platte; one brother, Eull Brown of Ville Platte; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sosthane and Lori S. Brown.

JOSEPH HILTON LAFLEUR

Funeral services will be held for Joseph Hilton Lafleur, 91, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Monday, June 16. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Mr. Lafleur died Friday, June 13, 2008.

Survivors include two sons, Bonner Lafleur and his wife, Linda, of Sulphur and Gerald Lafleur and his wife, Peggy, of LaPlace; four grandchildren, Hunter, Michael, Jean Paul, and Christopher Lafleur; and five great-grandchildren, Maggie, Claire, Grace, Zackary and Joshua Lafleur.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Deville Lafleur; and his parents, Willis and Rhea Lafleur.
