Corey Stelly
CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Corey Chase Stelly, 26, who died
June 23, 2008 in Crowley.
Fr. Celsius Offor will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to the time of service. A rosary will be recited by Sr. Justina Baker at 6:30 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Corey was native of Crowley and a resident of Jennings where he worked as an agent with Farm Bureau. He graduated from Crowley High School in 2000 and from UL of Lafayette in 2006 in Finance. He was passionate about the outdoors, and spent much time hunting, fishing, and spear fishing with friends and family. Corey loved his country and being a member of the United States Marine Corp for six years, he made one tour to Iraq where he spent time in Fallujah. He was a family man, had a smile that would attract many people, and was always the life of the party. Corey had a new title as “Dad” just four months ago, and that was the title he was most proud of.
He is survived by his wife of six years, Kelly Figard Stelly of Jennings, one son, Cameron Peter Stelly of Jennings; his parents, Frank and Annette Chappuis Stelly of Crowley; one brother, Kyle Stelly of Jennings; one sister, Mallory Stelly of Crowley; his paternal grandfather, George Stelly of Crowley; his maternal grandparents, Alvin and Thelma Chappuis; and his mother-in-law, Delores Figard.
Corey is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Janet Stelly, and his father-in-law Don “Butch” Figard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley.
