LAKE CHARLES – Beatrice Rose Culley Ford, (better known as Beachy) 92, of Lake Charles passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 in a local hospital.

She was born in Capron, OK, October 27, 1915 to Ralph and Opal (Kendall) Culley and lived in Kansas for many years. Mrs. Ford was a graduate of Grant County High School in Ulysses, KA and attended Northwestern State University in Alva, OK for two years prior to serving in the U. S. Navy as a Navy WAVE. Upon her discharge from the Navy, she went back to Northwestern University, graduating with BA in 1948. After her marriage to W. A. “Bill” Ford in 1946 and her graduation from college, they moved from Wichita, KA to Lake Charles in 1953. Mrs. Ford worked with the Camp Fire Girls, the Youth Symphony, was a member of the P.T.A. and the P.E.O. She was an active member of University United Methodist Church for fifty-five years: teaching Sunday School, worked with the youth group, sang in the church choir, was active in the United Methodist Women where she served as President, Recording Secretary and served as a Circle Chairman. Along with her husband Bill, she served as Sunday School Superintendent. Beachy was known as a “Choir Mother” making sure that everything was ready for Sunday Services.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, William A. “Bill” Ford of Lake Charles; daughters, Pam Burns and husband Charlie of Glendale, CA, Peggy Ford and Mary Champagne of Crowley, LA; grandchildren, Melissa Blakey and Brett Blakey and his fiancée Sarah Ancona, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Opal Culley; brothers, Bill, Scott, and Arch Culley.

Her Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at University United Methodist Church. Reverend Charles Langford will officiate. A gathering of friends and family will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, in the funeral home and continue from 9 a.m. until time of services, Saturday, at the church.
