Abbeville business burglarized

ABBEVILLE - On Friday, June 27 at 4 a.m. the Abbeville Police Department received a call that an Abbeville business had been burglarized by forcible entry.

Maude’s, located at 1305 Martin Luther King Jr. Street, is a neighborhood grocery that serves the immediate area.

“There is a lot of foot traffic there,” Detective Stan Suire stated.

According to Det. Suire a front window was broken after the metal grating was removed.

“They took the whole cash register,” he said.

“We found it smashed about two blocks away.”

A $500 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator. The money comes from the seized money in narcotics.
