City celebrates with JulyFete

CROWLEY – Patriotism reigned supreme in downtown Crowley Friday as the city held it’s annual Julyfete celebration. The crowd slowly increased in size as the sun began to go down and the heat subsided.

After a prayer by Rev. Jimmy Broussard, Mayor Greg Jones welcomed the crowd and led them in the pledge of allegiance with the help of eleven-year-old Hunter Lambert. Lambert also delighted the crowd when he played the national anthem on his fiddle.

The music of Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws and the Benjy Davis Project entertained the crowd as they danced into the evening.

During his greeting Mayor Jones made sure to keep the crowd’s Fourth of July outlook in perspective.

“If you see a member of our armed services today be sure to stop and thank him or her.” he said.

“They are the reason we celebrate this day.”
