FDA warns against Cipro and others

WASHINGTON- The Federal drug safety officials have imposed the government’s most urgent warning on the drug Cipro and similar antibiotics, citing risks that they cause tendon ruptures, which is a serious injury that leaves some patients incapacitated.

The makers of flouroquinolene drug, a potent class of antibiotics, to add a black box warning to their products. This includes Cipro, Levaquin, Floxin, and other such medications. Patients should immediately stop taking these medications immediately if they develop tendon pain, swelling or inflammation.
