Summerwood facility boasts resident poet

CROWLEY – Charles Brown, 46, is a resident at Summerwood Nursing home. He has a very creative way of expressing his emotions through poetry. “I have been writing since the year 1983,” he began. Recently, Brown has published all of his writings into a book entitled “Poems by Charles Brown.”

With eyes lit up, Brown explained how he got into poetry. As a young boy, he was raised with a very spiritual family, hence, the majority of his poems concern God. “Most of my poems are about love, and about God,” he continued, “I feed off of the good things in life. My poetry keeps me civilized and it’s a good outlet for me.” His life is lived one day at a time, and his personality is not lacking as far as a sense of humor goes.

In the future, Brown plans to keep writing. “I have traveled a lot in my life and I’m satisfied with the way things turned out. I thank the Lord for each day that I have,” Brown added.
