Luciano, de la Houssaye united in holy matrimony

Julia Ellen Luciano and William Anthony de la Houssaye, II were united in holy matrimony during a nuptial mass at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist on Friday, July 18, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in Lafayette. The Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Anthony Luciano of Lafayette. She is the granddaughter of Sandra Brennan of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Richard M. Winchell of Lafayette and the late Ellen S. Winchell.

Julia is a graduate of Lafayette High School and Louisiana State University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate of physical therapy at the University of St. Augustine in St. Augustine, Florida.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Anthony de la Houssaye of Crowley. He is the grandson of Frances de la Houssaye of Crowley and the late DeBlanc de La Houssaye and the late Lucille Mouton McGraw of Rayne.

William is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is currently employed as the marketing director at Horizon Medical in St. Augustine, Florida.

Escorted by her father, Julia entered the cathedral wearing a strapless gown of ivory silk organza. The gown was a lovely creation, from its soft sweetheart neckline, to the embellished crystal and pearl beaded bodice, down to the semi-cathedral train. The intricate crystal and pearl beaded detailing flowed down the full length of the ball gown and was carried on to her cathedral length veil of ivory illusion. She carried an unique mix of blush and off-white roses, peonies, ranunculus and hydrangea.

In keeping with tradition, the bride wore her gown as something new, nestled into her bouquet was a pale blue handkerchief carried by her mother on her own wedding day and a rosary belonging to her maternal grandmother was something old, something borrowed was an aquamarine colored ring from her mother and a garter especially made for the bride by the groom’s godmother, Elise Abshire as something blue.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister Jane Luciano. Chosen as her bridesmaids were Heather Saunders, Megan Lowe, Tallie Viator, Jennifer Hart, Kaylie Clements, Lindsay Bellina and Adrienne de la Houssaye, sister of the groom. The bride’s younger sister Sophie Luciano served as her junior bridesmaid. Hannah Broussard, cousin and godchild of the bride; and Jessica Hunt, also cousin of the bride; served as flower girls.

Standing as best men were Nicholas de la Houssaye, brother of the groom; and Christopher Perrone. Groomsmen were Daniel Taylor, David Kirkley, Justin Venable, David Barras, Grant Autrey and Johnathan Raush. Ian Winchell and Christopher Hunt, cousins of the bride; served as rind bearers.

Guests were ushered to their seats by Wayne Stein, Grant Fontenot, Christopher Klock and B.J. Christ.

Scriptures were read by Mr. and Mrs. Steven Cash, aunt and uncle of the bride; Conrad Mouton, cousin of the groom; and Samantha Broussard, cousin of the bride. Gift bearers were Mary Alice and Martha Cash, cousins of the bride.

Appropriate music selections were provide by Organist Thomas Neil, Trumpeter Will Green and Violinist Lauren Baker. Soloist was Martha Winchell, aunt of the bride.

Following the wedding ceremony, a reception was held at the City Club at River Ranch.

Upon returning from a honeymoon to the Island Antigua, the couple will reside in St. Augustine, Florida.

On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal diner was held at Don’s Seafood Restaurant in Lafayette.

The dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents.
