Averill Causey Stewart

CLEARWATER - Funeral services will be held for Averill Causey Stewart, 86, of Turkey Creek, at the First United Pentecostal Church of Turkey Creek at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 26. Burial will follow in the Pratt Cemetery in Clearwater.
A loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Ms. Stewart died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, in Alexandria. She was born on January 11, 1927, in Meridian to the union of Monroe and Rosella Adams Causey. She was a bus driver for the Early Childhood School for eight years in Port Neches, Texas, and worked at Texaco Island in the canning department for six years. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Turkey Creek. She taught the two-year-old Sunday School Class for 45 years and served on the Sunday School Extension for many years at the First United Pentecostal of Port Arthur, Texas.
Survivors include one son, Carlton Stewart of Turkey Creek; two daughters, Tuwanna Clark and her husband, Robert, of Nederland, Texas, and Juanda Stewart of Turkey Creek; three brothers, James E. Causey of Turkey Creek, Bobby L. Causey of French Settlement and Jimmy Causey of Amite; one sister, Joann Johnson of Denham Springs; one granddaughter, Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin (D. Loren) Martinez of Nederland, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Raygan A. Lena, Averill G. Lena (named after her great-grandmother), Britian M. Martinez, Brooklyn M. Martinez and Londyn C.E. Martinez, all of Nederland, Texas; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Curry Stewart; her parents, Monroe and Rosella Causey; two brothers, Thomas and Barry Causey; and one sister, Yvonne Russell.
Pall bearers honored to serve will be Lynn Johnson, Tommy Russell, Reverend Sam Russell, Anthony Goss, David Goss and Cary Goss.
Revs. Jeff Wainwright, Ray Johnson, Darrell McCoy and Billy Johnson will officiate.
White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale will be in charge of arrangements.
