Funeral services will be held for Bertha Gurtrue Edwards, 81, of Ville Platte, at the Owens-Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014. Burial will follow in the St. Matthew Cemetery.
Ms. Edwards died Monday, December 22, 2014, at her residence.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly (Dennis) Allison of Ville Platte; one sister, Murtle Zachary of Mamou; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clothile Harris Adams and Guid Adams; her husband, Francis Edwards; two brothers, Roosevelt Adams and Theadore Adams; and two sisters, Burnice Adams and Mary Thomas.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Rev. Murvis Thomas will officiate.
Owens-Thomas Funeral Home of Ville Platte will be in charge of arrangements.
