Funeral services will be held for Dorothy Mitchell Edwards, 77, of Ville Platte, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 21. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church Cemetery in Chataignier.
Ms. Edwards died Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte.
Survivors include four sons, Vernice Edwards of Chataignier, Johnnie Edwards of Spring, Texas, and Bernice (Laura) Edwards Jr. and Jerry (Cathy) Edwards, both of Abbeville; two daughters, Jean (Steven) Gobert of Elton and Anna Bella Soileau of Stowell, Texas; three brothers, J.C. (Luretta) Mitchell, Allen (Delores) Mitchell and Alvins Mitchell, all of Houston, Texas; six sisters, Mable (J.C.) Poullard, Rose, Genora Jones, Annable and Beulah (Wesley), all of Houston, Texas, and Julia Guillory of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Edwards; her parents, Olton Mitchell and Irene Bellard; two brothers, Carlton Mitchell and Tilton Mitchell; and one sister, Jeanella Collins.
Rev. Leroy Jack Jr. will officiate.
Williams Funeral Home of Ville Platte will be in charge of arrangements.
