Funeral services will be held for Edward “Knot-Toe” Thomas Jr., 106, of Ville Platte, at Ninth Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 24. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thomas died Saturday, April 16, 2016.
Survivors include five children, Jermaine Edwards (Rogers), Jessie Griffin (Hector), Eldridge Thomas (Barbara), Laura Jackson (Larry) and Beverly Hudson (Carl); 36 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; 74 great-great-grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elia Deshotel Thomas; his parents, Edward Sr. and Orelia Thomas; five children, Orelia Thomas Jack (Carlton), Lanis Thomas (Ester), Gradnis Thomas (Essie), Rogers Thomas (Delores) and Arthur Ray Thomas (Gerri); four sisters, Melda Fontenot, Alberta Johnson, Nazel Arvie and Hazel Thomas; one brother, AV Thomas; and several extended family members.
Visiting hours will be observed from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., Sunday, April 24, at Ninth Baptist Church in Ville Platte.
Pastor Darwan Lazard will officiate.
