Ella Mae Dupre Fontenot
August 18, 1924 - May 2, 2015
Funeral services were held for Ella Mae Dupre Fontenot, 90, of Ville Platte, at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Monday, May 4. Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Ms. Fontenot died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie. She proudly served as a volunteer in New Orleans during World War II, where she assisted with the building of Higgins Boats. She was a beautician by trade for 40 years and owned Ella Mae’s Beauty Den. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was that of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Survivors include two sons, Charles “Benny” Fontenot and his wife, Regina, of Ville Platte and George “Kip” Fontenot and his wife, Denise, of Lafayette; two daughters, Susan Richard and her husband, Lee, of Reddell and Dolores Landreneau and her husband, Bennett, of Alexandria; two brothers, Mayance Dupre and his wife, Mercedese, of Krotz Springs and Jimmy Dupre and his wife, Marie, of Irwenville; and four sisters, Sylvia Soileau and her husband, Joe, and Emily Fontenot, all of Ville Platte, Bernice Lafleur of Grand Prairie and Joy Ortego and her husband, Bradley, of Denham Springs. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Abbie Fontenot; her parents, Lamar and Adosia Deshotel Dupre; one brother, Rodney Dupre; and two sisters, Etta Manuel and Theresa Hazelton.
Pall bearers were Jacques Fontenot, Cody Fontenot, Chad Landreneau, Layne Landreneau, Chris Richard and Kyle Richard.
Father Richard Broussard officiated.
