Eugenia “Jean” O’Neal

LAKE CHARLES - Funeral services will be held for Eugenia “Jean” O’Neal, 77, of Lake Charles, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles at 10 a.m., Friday, July 18. Burial will follow in the Consolata Cemetery.
A native of Mamou, Mrs. O’Neal died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in a local hospital. She was a 1955 graduate of Mamou High School. She has lived in Lake Charles since 1956 and previously worked at the Lake Charles American Press, the Calcasieu Parish Library and Abe’s Grocery Store. She was strong in her faith and a member of St. Luke-Simpson United Methodist Church, where she served as an usher and was a member of MANA. She was an avid reader, and she enjoyed traveling, playing card games with her family, computers and cross stitching. She also enjoyed researching genealogy and traced her family back to the 1300’s. She was a very giving lady and loved her family and her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Milton D. O’Neal; one son, Bryan Keith O’Neal and his wife, Sheryl, and their children, Joshua O’Neal and girlfriend, Peyton Beninate, and Clint O’Neal and girlfriend, Victoria Gaffney, and her son, Bentley; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Legnion and her husband, Kevin, and their children, Nicole Legnion, Taylor Legnion and Lance Armentor and his wife, Samantha, and their children, Sylvia and Relic; one sister, Joyce Darbonne of Mamou; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Saline Reed Bertrand; two sisters, Rose Granger and Helen Bertrand; and one brother, Atney Bertrand.
Rev. Jack O’Dell will officiate.
