Geneva Russell Walker

TURKEY CREEK - Funeral services will be held for Geneva Russell Walker, 87, of Alexandria, at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 14. Burial will follow in the Turkey Creek Cemetery.
A native of Turkey Creek, Ms. Walker died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the Grace Home, St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. She was the second youngest in a family of nine brothers and sisters. After graduating from Bayou Chicot High School and Alexandria Business College, she went on to work for Rapides Bank and later, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, where she retired after 25 years of service. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She very much loved her family, and she especially enjoyed holiday gatherings with family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Robert Michael Walker and his wife, Jonette, of Hineston; two grandsons, Jason Michael Walker and his wife, Amanda, of Tioga and Brian Gregory Walker and his wife, Rachel, of Loveland, Colorado; and three great-grandchildren, Ian Michael Walker, Wesley Corbin Walker and Gabrielle Reese Walker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Robert Reginald Walker; her parents, James Edward Russell Sr. and Rosa Powers Russell; four sisters, Clara Russell Earnest, Lois Russell Thomas, Juanita Russell Tatman and Leona Russell Andrus; four brothers, James Edward (Jimmy) Russell Jr, Thurman Russell, Samuel H. Russell and Kenneth H. Russell; and one great-grandson, Kyle Steven Walker.
Pall bearers honored to serve were Jason M Walker, Brian G Walker, Gregory R Andrus, Robin Tatman, Scott Conway and Richard Hunt.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the fifth floor staff at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital for their loving and tender care, along with the staff of The Summit and Grace Home.
