Herman Joseph Semien

MAMOU - Funeral services will be held for Herman Joseph Semien, 72, of Opelousas, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 7. Burial will follow in the Delafosse Cemetery.
A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Mr. Semien died Monday, May 2, 2016. He served his country in the United States Army, where he served a tour in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Florence Adams Semien of Opelousas; two sons, Hermandus Semien of Houston, Texas, and Keidron Semien and his wife, Shereda, of Baytown, Texas; three daughters, Latricia Lewis and her husband, Gerald, and Hermanize Fontenot and her husband, Alex, all of Ville Platte, and Crystal Semien and her fiance’, Gerald, of Opelousas; four brothers, Vincent Semien of Ville Platte, Donald Semien of Mamou, John Semien of New Orleans and Darrell Semien of Oberlin; five sisters, Velma Davis, Shirley Ardoin and Tamikea Doucet, all of Ville Platte, Ladeidra Chambers of Lake Charles and Gerri Thomas of LeBleu; 19 grandchildren, Joseph Semien, Kagean Lewis, Gerald Lewis Jr, Hermandus Semien, Kedeique Semien, Kalaiborne Semien, Elinzo Semien, Keilan Semien, Morion Semien, Alex Fontenot Jr., Kendralyn Semien, Montyler Semien, Karenesha Semien, Alasia Fontenot, Tyrin Semien, Destinee Richard, Kedrion Rubin, Kynlee Semien and Kadience Semien; two step-grandchildren, Jaylen and Taylor Cane; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Allie Semien; one great-grandchild, Rylen Kennerson; one brother, Rogers Semien; and one sister, Lois Williams.
At the request of the family visitation will be held on Friday, May 06, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday evening. The funeral home will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, until time of service.
Father Kaspar Arulsamy will officiate.
